“Hack the System” is an interactive site-specific installation exhibited in the Museum of Fine Arts in Split, Croatia, December 13th 2018 - January 9th 2019. It hacks the surveillance system in the gallery and exposes it to the audience creating an analog video and sonic environment. 9 CCTV cameras in gallery spaces are connected with 8 projectors and 1 TV monitor in the closed-circuit mode. While moving through the dark gallery space and holding an infrared battery lamp visitors activate surveillance cameras which reproduce images of the gallery interior through the projectors and light up the space creating visual feedback. 8 contact microphones are attached to metal plates on gallery floors. By stepping on them visitors generate sounds which are then reproduced on speakers and picked up by 2 microphones in the gallery space to be reproduced again and again.

The project is realized with the support of:
The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia
The City of Split, the Department for Culture, Art and Historic Town Center
The City of Rijeka, the City Department of Culture
